What does ISPM15 stand for?

ISPM15 stands for – International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures Publication No.15 – Guidelines for Regulating Wood Packaging in International Trade (ISPM 15).

What is ISPM15?

ISPM15 is a wood packaging standard adopted by the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC).

Unprocessed raw wood is often used in transport products such as crates, cases, pallets, cradles and skids. This wood provides a pathway for the introduction and spread of pests and disease and therefore poses significant risk to local plant health.

ISPM15 is aimed at significantly lessening this risk associated with international trade. It requires that all wood packaging material undergoes either heat treatment or fumigation with methyl bromide. An internationally recognised certification mark is applied to treated wood to verify that treatment has occurred and to provide traceability to the country of origin.

What is the AWPCS and AQIS authorisation?

The Australian Wood Packaging Certification Scheme (AWPCS) is a scheme that ensures that Australian treatment providers, and wood packaging manufacturers, produce wood packaging material that meets the ISPM15 standard.

Under this scheme wood packaging manufacturers and treatment providers who meet the requirements of ISPM15, are authorised by Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) to apply the internationally recognised mark to wood packaging material produced for use in export trade.

All of our timber packaging products come with an ISPM15 Certificate & Certification Marks.
The ISPM15 Certificate is printed onto your delivery docket.
The Certification Marks are applied to each end of your timber product.
There is no extra charge for this service.
