At Axis Packaging our management team recognize and fully accept their moral and legal responsibilities to provide a safe and healthy work environment for all our employees, contractors and customers.
Our aim is to provide and maintain a safe working environment. All plant and equipment is maintained on a daily basis and safe work practices are in place to ensure workplace safety and health for anyone attending our premises. We encourage all employees, sub-contractors and visitors to actively participate in our safety awareness. We believe that this joint participation and co-operation creates a safe and healthy working environment for all.
Axis Packaging actively encourages this staff participation by providing training in certificates related to accident prevention. This includes Senior First Aid, Elevated Work Platform Certification, Chainsaw Tickets and Occupational Health and Safety Training.
Employees and sub-contractors play a key role in ensuring our safety objectives are maintained by accepting responsibility to ensure that their own safety and health and those of their co-workers are maintained. The achievement of these objectives is assisted with the adoption of safe work practices such as the use of protective clothing and equipment. New employees and sub-contractors participate in our Safety Induction Course, where they are introduced to our safe working procedures and policies. They watch programs on safe lifting methods, personal protective equipment and the safe handling of power tools. They then receive a full tour of our facilities and are introduced to Senior First Aid Officers, evacuation procedures and the safe use of equipment.
At Axis Packaging we have a “buddy system” is in place to ensure staff new to our machinery and operations are supervised and instructed in a safe manner. This proactive safety program helps to ensure our goals of safety are met. However, should an accident happen, we are also committed to providing appropriate Occupational Rehabilitation services to assist employees to return to their pre-accident employment status.
Axis Packaging believes that through joint participation and co-operation between management, employees and sub-contractor, a safe and healthy working environment is achieved to the benefit of all concerned.
